Blogs of the week

Our recent feature is "Blogs of the Week." Each week, we will feature a reader blog (which has to be sent to us) and an author blog (which can either be sent to us, or we'll pick one at random). This is our first week doing it and we hope to keep the momentum going for a while. Please check out the blogs we are sharing. We're sure the bloggers would love some friendly comments on their posts or a follow.

To have your blog featured for a future shout out, please e-mail us. The blogs can be anything: personal, book themed or something else you're interested in that you write about (movies, fashion, pets, career, etc.)

Shopping Detox

We have a Becky Bloomwood in our midst! Annabelle is a librarian (and book nerd), but her blog is about personal finance. The Year of Shopping Detox is a daily blog where she discusses her journey towards financial responsibility... with a lot of silly posts along the way, such as "Your frugal guide to the apocalypse."

Annabelle's favourite kinds of books are YA chick lit, especially anything by Meg Cabot, Maureen Johnson, and Sarah Dessen.

She lives in Saskatchewan, but for those of you who aren't nearby, she can also be found on Facebook and Twitter.

Random Mumblings of A 20 Something Author's Mind

Gemma Harris was born 29 years ago in South Wales in the UK. She can't remember when she started writing but remembers finishing her first novel at the age of thirteen. At sixteen, she won a short story competition run by her school but then decided to become sensible and move into employment as a secretary. However, writing has always been her first love and she recently got back into the game after discovering Authonomy. There she also discovered the Chick Lit Writers, a likeminded group of talented women who enjoy reading and writing chick lit. On the rare occasions where she is not chained to her desk, she can be found shopping for shoes, handbags, chocolate and spoiling her nephew rotten! She currently resides in her native South Wales with her family and dog.

Her debut novel, "Twenty Nine and Counting" is currently available on Kindle for 99 cents.

You can find her on Facebook and Twitter.

Thanks for the shoutout! I'm actually planning to re-read the first Shopaholic book and then compare/contrast to myself...
